If you are taking any medication or supplements please document them on your health questionnaire, this will be emailed or posted to you when you make your appointment. During the consultation the health questionnaire will be discussed in more detail and from there a treatment regime will be discussed to suit your individual needs. You will be explained the colonic procedure in more detail and any fears will be alleviated.
What happens during a colonic?
You will be asked to change into a towel wrap that ties around your waist.
You will then lie on the treatment bed on your left side as the speculum
(disposable tube) is gently inserted into your rectum. The speculum is approximately
2 inches long. This is not painful in any way and once the tube is inserted
you are unaware of it being there.
The warm water will gently begin to enter the rectum. It is a gravity fed system so the pressure is low and is well controlled by your therapist. You will feel a sense of being full as the water enters your colon and feel empty as the material begins to leave the rectum. After a few minutes you will turn onto your back with your knees slightly bent and your treatment will continue. The therapist will massage the abdominal area during the procedure, this assists in the release of faecal matter. Many clients find the procedure relaxing and any initial fears of embarrassment disappear.
The colonic system is closed and there is no risk of release into the treatment room. It is a completely clean and odourless procedure. The treatment lasts approximately 30- 45 minutes.
Following the colonic
Most people feel a sense of cleanliness; feel lighter and more energized following
a colonic. You will be able to carry on with your everyday duties as normal
after your treatment.
Your therapist will advise you to take a probiotic (the good bacteria)
following your treatment which is available at the clinic.
